Bio
At the ripe old age of 8, a gummy-mouthed girl with a shocking home-cut mullet declared to the world (or at least her composite Grade 2/3 class) that she wanted to be an actor.
Fast forward a few decades, the artist formerly known as 'Mullet-Halia’ stayed true to her word: she is now a working actor and voice artist.
You’ll be pleased to know she’s grown into her gums and grown out her hair.
Over the years, Mahalia has had roles on a wide range of network TV shows and films. Most recently, Apple Cider Vinegar, Warnie and Neighbours. She’s been nominated for and won ‘best actor’ award in multiple film festivals for her roles in a wide range of short films.
Other credits include Utopia, Twentysomething, The Slap, Bed of Roses, Winners and Losers, The Wizards of AUS, Counter Girls, Erinsborough High and Footballer Wants A Wife, as well as TVC’s for Sportsbet, Nintendo Wii, Bourbon Woodstock, Holden, Honda, Rinnai and Amplifon just to name a few. But we’re not done yet...
Mahalia’s unique vocal talents (husky and low? Shrill and whiny? British-Russian Zombie Spy? You name it, she’ll voice it) has made her an in-demand vocal artist, voicing over 30 characters across popular cartoons both in Australia and USA. She also dubs foreign films.
She is currently the voice of Australia’s favourite store, Kmart and not to gush, but it might just be a career highlight.
Her voice has also starred in a huge array of radio and TV commercial campaigns such as Target, NAB, Liquorland, Foxtel, Jeep, Michael Hill Jeweller, The Australian Ballet, Lifesavers, Chadstone the Fashion Capital, WNBA, Work Safe, Linkt and many more.
Not bad for a kid with a mullet.
